Judging format
You’ll be judged on:
Use of the bowl: Waitangi Park bowl has these things to consider in a line: three bowled sections, shallow end, mid-section, three hips, side wall and deep end. A well rounded run in the bowl will utilise as many of these features in a fluid bowl skating approach.
Style: The fluid linking of bowl features and how individual tricks are performed within the run (i.e. continuity of line).
Content: Bowl skating dictates that tricks are complementary to the whole run. If the tricks appear awkward and singular rather than part of the whole run, they may be marked down. If the tricks are fluid and complimentary to the run, then the number, difficulty, originality and variety of tricks performed will add to the score. If a skater spends most of their time utilising just one area of the bowl performing tricks, i.e. half-piping or tricks only in the deep end, their run will be scored down.
The judges’ decision is final.
Important info
• Waitangi Bowl and Park are an alcohol-free zone. Please respect it.
