$5k of prizes up for grabs at Duckewe’s ‘mini-chin’ ramp festival.
Civil Parks are building a ‘mini-chin ramp’ based on the halfpipe from the seminal skateboard movie Search for Animal Chin. It should be 7ft in places with some extensions, but Josh of Civil Parks is keeping fairly secretive with the build. There will also be a quarter ramp, hip, manual pad, kicker and rail set up in the courtyard space. The comp format will be based around 40 second runs, with Men’s, Women’s and Grom’s categories. There will be $5K worth of prizes up for grabs.

According to Duckewe brand’s Jack Richardson, “the day is also going to include a ‘seriously beefy’ sound system, six DJs, two live bands, street food and craft beer. Hence the ‘skate festival’ vibe. My background is in music and I’m stoked at how the events developed. We’ve got some great people involved with Civil Parks, Outsiders, Embassy, Yeah Gnar & Skateboarding NZ sponsoring.”
