On the night of October 6, Fusion’s Cuba Mall store got transformed once again into a thriving skate park for a few hours. Fortunately no bone carnage took place this time; instead a casual session went down on the shop’s counter. Thanks go out to Fusion and Gravis for making the night possible. Here’s a video and a few pics from the night.

I got back on Sunday from covering the Creature Skateboards Tour for SLAM Magazine. I joined the team in Bondi and travelled up to the Gold Coast with them over 7 days. It rained a fair bit but we managed to get some shit done. Ryan Reyes the new Am on the team rips. The funniest guy on the trip by far. Quite a few of us ended up with tour tattoos due to boredom when it was raining. Ryan drew a portrait of me without looking at the paper and I now have it permanently transferred onto myself. Pretty funny shit when you end up with a picture of Santa Claus on your foot.

Ryan Reyes portrait of myself.

Ryan Reyes.

Also in town at the moment is Kiwi photographer, legend and all round good man Dave Chami. He’s brought Austyn Gillette and Daryl Angel with him for a skate holiday. They’ve been staying at ol’ Sparkes’ house, so will hopefully pop in for a few beers this week.

Ryan Wilson got back from the States last week too, as well as Chima. It’s gonna be a pretty full on summer I imagine.

Here are a couple of ads I’ve shot recently. This is a Hurley Ad featuring Ryder Lawson. Ryder is on direct flow from Flip, which is pretty amazing when you think about it. He’s got rubber legs and doesn’t mind jumping down things.

Ryder Lawson, frontside 180.

This heelflip of Sammy Winter is a Destructo ad somewhere in the world. Not sure exactly which mags it ran in, hopefully I’ll get a copy at some point!

Sammy Winter Destructo ad.

I shot some pretty tripped out pics for my mates band a month or two back. We got wasted and bashed around in the bush for a few hours, I’m surprised I came home with all my gear.

Spirit Valley

I once saw this guy switch pop shuvit UP a gap we were all skating down. Nuff said. A round of applause for New Zealand’s Marcus please. Chey Ataria, the man, the legend. Still killing it in every aspect of life. Respect g!

E-Clipse x Legends

Firstly I would like to say, fuck all the Smolik haters! All you cats out there trying to do combo tricks on a ledge like the world is going to end, yet hating on Smolik, can go… well, you get the picture. Hey, I’m not the biggest fan of them new age five hit combos myself, but I ain’t too shy to flip in or out and Smolik was the man that started doing it proper. Have I ranted enough ’bout those combos? And don’t start talkin’ trash about homeboy’s arms either, they are fine where they are. Any how here’s Smolik’s legendary part in Fulfill the Dream from Shorty’s. Oh, and peep the hoody under cap clips. This one’s for Dyer, yet again. “Your party ain’t shit if you ain’t gettin’ drunk!”. Any SAG pants out there?

Fulfill the Dream.

Quick Pick

Many big names?

Homies.

Fine Tuning

So I managed to cop the Elzhi Australasian tour on my earthday in Wellington about a month ago at San Fran Bath House. It was most def’ in my top ten gigs that I have ever seen. I hope all y’all downloaded his free album Elmatic that I posted up a few months back. Covering Nas’s Illmatic is a heavy task to undertake, but Elzhi pulled it off, but not without the help of the live Detroit joint known as Will Sessions. I didn’t expect him to play much of Elmatic in his set as it was a solo gig with no Will Sessions, but he ended up doing the whole thing from start to finish with a few extra add-ons up in there. It was pretty tight! It made me think though how dope it would be to see the Elmatic tour with Elzhi and Will sessions together in one gig. See, Will Sessions are a live funk/jazz group and those guys got game. I had been geeking out last friday night and found out that Will Sessions had dropped an instrumental version of the Elmatic album. I almost internally combusted right then and there. You gotta peep this album. If you enjoy Illmatic or Elmatic or Nas in general then you’re gonna piss your pants when you hear this. You won’t have ever heard any thing like it and to prove it I got a clip of DJ Premier listening to that shit. Cop it now!

Will Sessions The Elmatic Instrumentals.

Stomping Grounds

Much like the Stevie Williams DC pro model that I never could skate in but was the best shit ever, this is DC’s first ever Kalis pro model. It is another one of those shoes that Zee Baron (Shane Mathewson) would rock all day that I just wanted to try out so bad but never had the pleasure of doing. Give me them joints and a 7.4 down at Love park and a good few tries at three flippin’ that bin off them tiles and I would be a very happy man. It’s yet another case of you love it or absolutely cannot stand the sight of it. You be the judge. Oh yeah, one of the dopest things about these kicks is the box they came in, with the official sequence of the tré flip over that bin! I provided a still of the aforementioned tré so you can get my drift of how gully this man really is. How captivated is the dude in shorts in the background, hope he wasn’t too blazed to remember that glorious day!

Sick of losing your dice in the snow? Well, we have just the thing for you…

Press Release: September 1 2011

World’s first ‘Snow Dice’ App released for the iPhone.

Today ‘Send it! Apps’ from Wanaka, New Zealand announces the launch of the official ‘Snow Dice’ App for snowboarders worldwide.

What is ‘Snow Dice’? Originating from the skateboard world of ‘Skate or Dice’, the game would consist of a physical set of several dice. Each pair of dice would have a variety of trick options written on it which, when rolled, would create a trick combination that the rider would get to attempt. This concept then extended into the snowboard world, and now with the release of the official ‘Snow Dice’ App on the App Store, any snowboarder with a iPhone or iPod Touch can play.

The ‘Snow Dice’ App is NOT a video game. It is designed for real snowboarders to use on the hill as they are actually snowboarding.

Using the ‘Snow Dice’ App is simple:
- Download the ‘Snow Dice’ App
- Launch the App when your out on the snow and ready to throw down
- Physically shake your iPhone to ‘Roll the Dice’
- Read out the trick that the ‘Snow Dice’ randomly selects
- Go and try the trick!

‘SNOW DICE’ : Shake – Roll – Go!

Can you only spin a 360? No worries! A huge advantage of the ‘Snow Dice’ App is the ability to choose your own difficulty settings. This means no trick is out of reach and you are in total control. With Jump and Rail modes, spins options of up to 1080′s and 8 different grab varieties – ‘Snow Dice’ has EVERYONE covered.

You’re sessioning a street rail – SNOW DICE! You want to bet 5 bucks against your buddy on the beginners jump – SNOW DICE! You’re lapping the park and want to try something different – SNOW DICE! The ‘Snow Dice’ App is aimed for any freestyle snowboarder who loves jibbing and jumping – full stop! Weekend warriors, broke snowboard bums, shred ninja’s, coaches, instructors, Am’s and Pro’s alike can all use the ‘Snow Dice’ App to expand their bag of tricks, challenge their buddies and have a smile on their dial.

Proceeds of the ‘Snow Dice’ App will go towards blacked out staff Range Rovers with 24 inch rims, ‘team building’ heliboarding trips in Alaska and the hiring of blonde Swedish models as ‘assistants’.

The ‘Snow Dice’ App is made by snowboarders – for snowboarders and is available NOW on the iTunes App Store for $1.99.
