VIC Park: Temporary Park Closure

Posted by David Read on Monday June 27 2011

23 June 2011: Advice to skateboarding community re: closure of the temporary skate park and permanent skate park update

The construction of the Victoria Park Permanent Skate Park is well underway.  The permanent skate park is due for completion in October 2011, but due to excellent weather conditions lately our contractor is hoping that the majority of the works will be completed ahead of time.

Part of the project includes relocating the timber skate features from the temporary skate park to the permanent skate park.  The timber half-pipe skate feature will be moved first – this move is scheduled to happen on Monday, 27 June 2011, with preparations for the move starting on Friday, 24 June 2011.  Given the extent of preparatory work required to allow the move to happen, the temporary skate park will be closed from Thursday, 23 June 2011.  The skate park project team realises that this is short notice and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

However, the good news is that our contractor has advised that they expect to have part of the new permanent skate park opened for use by 22 July 2011 – this area will include the relocated mini-ramp and part of the adjacent skate park plaza.
