The Vox X Manual D.I.Y competition has now closed. Thanks to all the crews who got together to build something for the comp, and to those of you who voted. We hope you all had fun with the competition and are still enjoying the fruit of you labour. After much deliberation we are proud to announce Blackhart Skate Spot and it’s creators Luke Blackman and Garth Urquhart as the grand prize winners. Their spot was superbly built and made a great contribution to the skateboarding landscape of the Bay Of Plenty.

Embracing New Zealand’s unique D.I.Y. attitude Vox Footwear & Manual Magazine proudly presents the Do It Yourself competition. Entry numero uno. Deez Nuutz Hardware quarter pipe. Please leave your comments and votes.
Entry number two. Blackhart Skate Spot by Garth Urquhart and Luke Blackman.
Entry number three. The Slimey G Spot.
This entry by Scott Olds and friends brings us to four.
Entry number five… “There were quite a few boys helping to make this ghetto spot. Skating in the video is Tim Geoghegan, Shaydn Wood, Tom Champion and Kelvin Curtin, but a big thanks to the rest of the crew Sam wright, Conyers Peach, Morgan Willis, Josh Buckett and Fynn Thomas. We all pitched in money to buy the concrete. It was quite a mission to design/make this spot but it was great fun. Couldn’t have done it with out you guys.” Filmed by Tim Geoghegan, Tom Champion and Shaydn Wood, edited by Tom Champion.
And a late and incomplete entry (but nonetheless great) bring us to six… “Here’s some crappy snaps of what the Dunedin crews been up to: The Serpent’s Lair. The weather’s been crap and we’ve been slack. We had first roll on one of the wall ride ramps today, the other’s still drying. Mini spine, pole jam and ledge are in the works too. Disappointing not to have finished them in time but its been a good kick in the ass to get the ball rolling.”
